"Not crazy about the characterization either but one note re: stocks like Colgate. People are betting on lower rates + stimulus to spur global growth & that it will work (at the cost of currency devaluation). So if that's their thesis they'd want to invest in high-growth areas that are both supported by lower rates & that provide high potential capital appreciation. If the market ever starts to feel that the U.S. economy is at serious risk of a recession then cash flows today via high-dividend "safe" stocks will take priority. Right now despite the macro headwinds weaker labor market mixed"
