You could say they are successfully boiling the frog but the other side of the coin is that they are creating resentment with many of their customers who now have viable alternatives. "OpenAI is going to build a browser from scratch with an untrusted mgmt team that people dont want to give their data which there is a long list of valid reasons why. Really interesting they chose to not do this with Microsoft -improving Edge/Bing- who has global distribution but instead went their own route. They are even releasing this on Mac first. Perplexity also has their own browser named Comet that nobody (outside of tech investors) has heard of. Im not sweating this announcement one bit.
