"Beginners try out this summary of @JeeC84's post: XRP (a popular cryptocurrency) isnt built for complex finance activities that rely on smart contracts (programmed agreements for lending and trading). Flare's FAssets lets FXRP stand in for XRP so it can use smart contracts but the FXRP needs FLR to back it up (as collateral).
