"(So the reason I thought of this was actually to explain what appears initially to be the irrational actions of Europe over the war in Ukraine. Recall that their response was initially lackadaisical in the extreme. Germany sent like helmets. Everybody agreedisnt it terrible about Ukraine but oh well. They were dragged in line behind the Americans into providing more and more support but they kind of wasnt that enthused. But now its like they are on a holy existential mission and Russia must be defeated or Europa is lost etc etc. Putin is like Hitler and the Donbas is like Sudetenland. How did"

"I think they will achieve their objective Crimea X oblasts plus a neutralized Ukraine. Its a shame so many people on both sides had to die for such a predetermined conclusion. I guess the most face-saving way is to pretend Ukraine was saved from total takeover. Keep fighting then those X oblasts will increase to X. Such is the nature of wars of attrition"
