"The truth about Ethereum is that its programmable and open framework allowed many grifters to accumulate large amounts of ETH by selling low quality tokens and NFTs to retail investors. In doing so they effectively extracted ETH that might have otherwise remained in the hands of long term holders. Retail participants ironically trying to increase their ETH exposure by chasing higher beta plays ended up parting with the actual asset they sought to accumulate.
