"How soon after surgery should your dog start rehabilitation Early As soon as 5-7 days can help them start feeling better. There are so many reasons to start rehab early after CCL surgery (TPLO/TTA) our manual skills are just one. Gentle passive range of motion and massage are a great way to make your pup feel better in those first couple of days out of surgery Weight bearing and strengthening exercise and follow along after to help your pup get back to themselves 💪🤗 #dogrehabilitation #dogrehab #caninerehab #caninerehabilitation #manualtherapytechniques #ccl #tplo #tplosurgery #tplorecovery"

"What is a CCL and how did my dog tear it Their CCL is akin to our ACL The big difference between theirs and ours is that theirs tends to tear gradually over time while a humans ACL tears with sudden force. What that means is there may not be a specific event that your dog begins to limp but you notice it comes on without obvious cause. The ACL provides stability in the knee (aka stifle) joint so when it tears it can be uncomfortable for them to bear weight on it which results in the limp. For this reason dogs who tear their CCL are more likely to injury the other legs CCL due to the overuse."
