"Best way to ID Ive tried looking online for ways to ID but feel like I am gaslighting myself everytime I read a possibility. I also have a bunch of loose stones from a jeweler that Id like to ID but have no idea where to start or what to trust. "Identification tips What are some good ID tips This is a new interest / hobby for me. So far Ive picked up: -Setting and what they are set with can be indicative of gems vs fakes / rhinestones ect. Ie the better the material like 18k not gold plated the higher chance the gem is real or higher quality. -Some gems are UV reactive - I have not found a very complete list of which gems this is true of tho so please advise if you can -Diamonds are dense so they should not float in water and should sink I know these things are always going to be perfect but anything I can gather to have some"
