"1985 Chevy K10 6.2L Detroit Diesel Heavy black smoke under acceleration poor uphill power Im driving a [----] Chevrolet K10 with the 6.2L Detroit Diesel and experiencing some worrying issues that I cant quite figure out hoping someone here has some insight. The engine puts out a ton of black smoke but only when accelerating hard (like full throttle). As soon as it reaches RPM the smoke stops. My mechanic also checked it and noticed that the intake manifold is full of soot which seems pretty unusual. On top of that the power is really weak especially when going uphill. Sometimes I can barely"

"Engine shuts down when opening fuel cap I have a [----] Chevrolet K10 with a 6.2-liter Detroit Diesel engine. I recently ran the tank pretty low and when I tried to start the engine while refueling I opened the fuel cap and heard a hissing sound indicating there was a vacuum in the tank. The engine then stalled and after refueling it stalled a couple more times before stabilizing. Does anyone have experience with this and could it be related to an issue with the tank ventilation system I do not have the original fuel caps Diesel Diesel"

"1985 K10 6.2L Detroit Diesel engine stalling tank cap hissing now fine I have a [----] K10 with the 6.2L Detroit Diesel. On my last drive the engine cut out twice but started back up immediately. Today I went to drive it the engine fired right up but instantly died. The only way to keep it running was full throttle in neutral. When I opened the fuel tank cap it hissed (not sure if it was overpressure or vacuum). After that the truck started and ran perfectly even after I put the cap back on. Ive now removed the gasket from the tank cap just in case. Does this truck have a separate fuel tank"
