"Justin Rose is an elite putter. But he didnt used to be. In fact by tour standards he was worse than average. The change came after he adopted the claw putting grip. After testing with his putting coach Phil Kenyon the pair found that with a conventional grip Rose would subtly hinge his right thumb towards the inside of his right forearm at the start of how downstroke. It was a move that helped him create power in his full swing but on the green would open the clubface. Hed need to time his release to try to save it. Repositioning his right hand with the claw grip calmed this movement down."
