"I think its because video games are a medium where theres less authorship or at least its harder to get it across if youre not deeply established (like Kojima). A lot of remakes were personal auteur projects that were about taking a film from elsewhere and turn it into something that was more relevant to the directors context. Most video game remakes are an attempt to replace the original games instead of being their own thing. Theres like a dozen other reasons I could talk about (like rising costs meaning less risks) but I think thats probably the biggest one and also why the few remakes"
