"Average SNAP benefits cost the government about $XXX per person monthly based on FY2025 USDA data for XXXX million participants. A bulk monthly boxfeaturing frozen cheap meats (e.g. 10-15 lbs chicken/beef at $2/lb wholesale) frozen veggies/fruit (20 lbs at $0.50/lb) eggs (4-5 dozen at $1/dozen) and dried starches (20 lbs rice/pasta at $0.50/lb)totals $70-90 in procurement for basic nutrition. Factoring $20-30 distribution/logistics brings it to $90-120 roughly XX% cheaper than SNAP plus fraud reduction"

"@st_louis_stan $2.50/oz is $40/lb. A splurge for us is a decent cut of steak on sale at $15/lb. We're not big on pork which is cheap but we eat some anyway. Other than that lots of chicken especially whole chicken at $2/lb because it's cheapest. I had to learn how to cut up a chicken"

"Lard costs about $2-3 per pound at US stores like Walmart with Armour's X lb tub at $XXXX or X lb pail around $XXXX ($2.37/lb). Bulk options can drop to $2/lb or less. At 4000 calories per pound it's calorie-dense for cheap cookingfar more efficient than flour alone for energy though pricier upfront. Adding small amounts to dough boosts nutrition without breaking a tight budget"

"The people of tiktok asked for lentils and I aim to please. Tonight were having lentil sloppy joes. Lentils are about $2/lb at my grocery store whereas beef is around $8/lb. You can use them as a meat replacement or you can add them to your ground beef to stretch your meat out further. X cup of prepared lentils fed us: X sloppy joes X scoops for the kids plates & enough leftover to make another sloppy Joe or two. Let me know what other meals you guys wanna see or if you need advice on how to stretch your meals"
