X. This isn't real. It's pure speculation about something happening in the future.
X. The reason rich people are billionaires now when they used to be millionaires is the same reason I can't buy a new car for $XXXXX anymore. Inflation.
X. "wealth" isn't money. When you see these numbers, it's not because someone actually has that much money in a bank somewhere. It means somebody counted the shares of public companies someone owns, then took them times the current market price.
If you have any idea how the markets work you know that doesn't convert into that much actual money unless someone is willing to actually buy that much of the stock at that price.
Not only would Elon be unlikely to be able to sell his shares of Tesla without moving the market. Even a rumor of him leaving, much less divesting would probably cause the price to crater and for his stock to be worth a fraction of what it is at current market price.
Everything is worth what you can get someone to pay for it. All other valuations are make believe.
