It's overwhelming. I have two Nikon DSLRs (which are heavy, bulky and need extra lenses to get the shots I want). They take great quality shots, but are exhausting to lug around. I also have a Panasonic Lumix TZ90 (which has a 30x zoom. It's pocket-sized and takes great shots. I now also have a Panasonic FZ82 (as recommended by Kev), which has a 60x zoom, but is the size and shape of a DSLR. I don't know what your requirements are, but I can wholeheartedly recommend the TZ90 in the interim (if you can find a reasonably priced used one on FB marketplace or similar).
