Today sucked as a family in SF. This city is not serious about protecting women and children.
1/ At Golden Gate Park, a clearly disturbed man peed in public, on purpose, laughing while staring at my 6-year-old daughter—with his dick out. (public bathroom XX feet away) 2/ This morning, we walked out of our house with our X kids and saw a guy doing meth XX feet from our porch, preparing a needle. (We live in one of the most expensive parts of the city. Imagine what it’s like elsewhere.)
Over the past X years, my wife has been harassed or assaulted by homeless addicts more times than we can count. Honnestly i'm shocked she has not asked me XX times that we gotta move away. Here are just a few:
3/ In Mission Bay, 2020—right after a doctor’s appointment for our first baby. A man grabbed her stroller and started saying horrifying things. She froze. Tried to run. He followed her into the train. She screamed, finally someone helped. Police showed up X hours later. Said there was nothing they could do.
4/ Union Square, 2019—she’s sitting alone. A man sits next to her and says he’ll throw boiling tea on her face if she moves or screams. I arrive, realize something is wrong, confront him. He tries to fight me. We leave shaken.
5/ Countless other street harassment incidents. Yelling. Stalking. Menacing behavior. She’s been through it all. We only ever reported one incident. So yeah, those crime stats? Total bullshit.
When will SF take this seriously? No wonder families flee as soon as they have kids.
Sorry for posting this as this is not why most of you follow me, but we gotta get some accountability at city hall.
