🚨 NEW: Section XXX of the Online Safety Act is a ticking time bomb for free speech.
It makes it a crime to send a message you know is false if it causes “non-trivial psychological harm” — and if you don’t have a “reasonable excuse”.
Who defines “harm”? Who decides what’s “reasonable”? And since when did hurt feelings become a criminal offence?
This isn’t about stopping hoaxes — it’s a blank cheque for censorship. One that could see satire, political speech, or inconvenient truths silenced by those in power.
A law this vague doesn’t protect the public. It protects the establishment.
