🚨Advice to the protestors at migrant hotels:

It is great to see more protests all over the country, it’s exactly what we need and it’s long overdue.

I do however have some tips for the leaders and organisers within these communities.

➡️Have a zero tolerance policy on face masks. If you see anyone in any type of face mask you need to self police and usher them away or report them to the police and say they aren’t one of you

➡️Look out for people who are acting out. Again we have to self police and if you see people throwing things or shouting vulgarities at police call them out because I believe they are likely to be state agitators looking to have an excuse to paint these protests as riots and clamp down on people

➡️Don’t take the bait from the left. The best thing we can do is to keep coming back peacefully chanting “save our kids” and “get them out”. Peaceful protests with clear demands and goals succeed

➡️Set a curfew. Say that the formal protests will end at 10pm and then anyone else lingering around afterwards won’t be associated with the protest movement and the police can deal with troublemakers without tarnishing the integrity of the protests. Nothing good happens after dark at these protests

➡️Bring resources. It’s going to be a hot summer so bring water, snacks, first aid, etc so people are kept happy and cool headed

➡️Film everything. Every inch of the protest site should have cameras on it so that the media can’t possibly portray it to be something it isn’t

➡️Engage with the police and ask to set up rules of engagement. One of the reasons the @TRobinsonNewEra rallies last summer worked so well is the counter protestors were kept away and Tommy’s team self policed and kept people away from the police. They also cleaned up after themselves which set the tone for the events

➡️Bring facts. Print out headlines and CPS press releases showing stories of asylum seekers committing crimes as well as the facts and stats. @RestoreBritain_ and @migrationCtrl have good charts that would be great to have on posters and banners

➡️Get organised. If possible let’s have local leaders, treasurers, secretaries, etc. This may well end up being a long hard slog so let’s make these protest groups official and coordinated to improve the likelihood of safe and successful protests

➡️Last one. Keep up the momentum and form local networks. This is such a great opportunity for local people to set up things like neighbourhood watches and community networks to keep each other safe. We can’t trust the state to keep us safe so let’s take it upon ourselves to look after our own. Don’t let this momentum fizzle out - let’s harness it
