Prime Minister @NarendraModi, who landed in #Maldives on Friday to attend the 60th Independence Day celebrations of the country, was welcomed with a 21-gun salute at the event.

The Maldivian capital Male was decked up with colourful banners, giant posters and the Indian national flag lining the streets. The ministry of defence building in Malé, Maldives puts up PM Modi's picture during his visit.

Several major roundabouts, including the Republic Square and main roads leading from Male International Airport, were adorned with decorations to welcome the Prime Minister.

The visit marked Modi's third trip to the Maldives as Prime Minister and the first by any foreign head of state or government since President @MMuizzu assumed office.
