another scam detected.
they're targeting KOLs who are climbing LBs on Kaito.
they almost got me. $80k in stables for X months of working is quite tempting.
they asked for my Telegram for further discussion.
a guy named Min Jun Kim contacted me.
"okay, this might be another guy from their team," I thought.
i sent him a Google Meet invite. A few minutes later, another guy named Paul joined.
he said he was from Mirae Ventures, working closely with @boundless_xyz
we talked briefly, but he focused solely on stating that he was there to provide a brief about the project. Min Jun Kim would handle the financial details.
paul left the meeting.
i asked @kashviETH about them, but he might not be online to answer me.
afterward, Min Jun Kim sent me a KakaoTalk meeting link to join.
he said it was the corporate version his team uses.
that's when I saw the red flag.
the link directed me to download an app.
- the domain was not trustworthy. it was likely created some months ago.
- i downloaded the app and tested it in a sandbox.
- nothing appeared; i even saw some Russian words. (If you're a dev, you know there have been many hackers from that country.)
Min Jun Kim urgently requested that I download the app to join the meeting. when I told him what I found, he immediately deleted all the chat.
lessons?
i know the mindshare race is tough. there are many opportunities out there, but they come with many risks as well.
equip yourself with a basic understanding of how they work.
never download strange apps unless you know how to test them in a sandbox.
