The left loves to talk about structural failures, especially with crime. Leaving the mentally ill, anti-social, and addicted, free to roam the streets, is a structural failure, that puts their life in jeopardy, as well as that of innocent strangers. It's a sick policy that's morally wrong, to both the destitute people they claim to want to help, and to broader society.
These sort of incidents, where an employee ends up in a deadly fight with an ill man, are guaranteed to happen with current policy, and when they inevitably do, policy makers find a scapegoat to absolve themselves of their wrongdoing.
