🇺🇦 ANTS coalition urges Zelensky to repeal the law dismantling anti-corruption independence
In response to the scandalous adoption of Law №12414 — which subordinates the independent NABU and SAP to the President’s loyal Prosecutor General — the influential civic network ANTS (National Interests Advocacy Network) has issued a powerful public appeal. This coalition, uniting dozens of civic organizations, economists, human rights groups, and anti-corruption watchdogs, is warning that the destruction of independent anti-corruption institutions poses an existential threat to Ukraine’s European future, financial support, and wartime sustainability.
🔹 In their official statement — signed on July XX by leading members of Ukraine’s civil society and business elite — ANTS reminds the authorities that Ukraine’s path toward EU membership is contingent on the existence of effective, politically independent anti-corruption institutions. These are not symbolic technicalities, but core pillars of democratic trust and key criteria for EU accession.
🔹 They emphasize that law №12414, passed in a rushed and opaque manner, dismantles the very structure that has enabled Ukraine to prosecute high-level corruption. It transforms NABU and SAP into politically controlled bodies, strips their confidentiality protections, and violates prior agreements with the IMF and EU.
🔹 “This is not just a rollback. It is the removal of one of Ukraine’s most vital guarantees to its partners and citizens,” the statement says. “It drastically increases financial and security risks during a full-scale war, precisely when public trust and international aid are essential.”
The coalition calls on President Zelensky to demonstrate leadership and veto the law, urging the Verkhovna Rada to reverse course and reintroduce reforms that preserve Ukraine’s European choice. The signatories include:

📢 Their conclusion is stark: “Only by restoring anti-corruption independence can we preserve the legacy of the Revolution of Dignity, justify the lives lost on the Maidan and at the front, and fulfill the promise of a democratic European Ukraine.”
