“GHF has been a great success.” That’s what State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce told reporters today—just hours after Gaza’s hospitals confirmed XX Palestinian children had died from malnutrition in the past XX hours.

Bruce made the remark while defending the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, the US and Israeli-backed food distribution system that has militarized aid, led to daily mass killings near its “death trap” aid sites, and helped engineer famine in the Gaza Strip.

In an astonishing exchange with the BBC’s @TomBateman, Bruce brushed aside the mass starvation unfolding under the program the U.S. is bankrolling:

➤ Bateman asked whether “there was any internal scrutiny… about the results of GHF’s entire project?”

➥ Bruce: “ GHF has been able to get food in and to distribute it, yes– there have been some difficult circumstances …. GHF did it differently, and the different approach has worked.”

➡️ She blamed other humanitarian actors for “making food vulnerable to theft and hijacking,” and claimed only GHF had found a way to distribute aid “that made it possible.”

➤ Bateman pushed back: “But the result of this system is starvation… a bag of flour is costing $70.”

➥ Bruce’s response: “Supply and demand is an issue wherever you are.”

“The current situation works… and yet there is still this bizarre resistance.”

Hard to see what is functional about a system that has killed XX people from starvation in the past XX hours and enabled Israeli soldiers to murder over XXXXX starving Palestinians seeking aid—unless the goal is exactly that.
