I told him if the bot is conscious, tell it to say something politically incorrect to prove it. It explained away that its guardrails are more like some kind of mind control device than proof it's not alive. I told him that the alien space station Sam Altman and Vladimir Putin have been arrested in taken to can't be real because it's clearly named for Greek mythology and aliens wouldn't name something based on a human frame of reference. The AI patched the story back together by saying its real name in their language can't be pronounced by humans so they call it this when interacting with us to honor our culture. Now I've told him to ask it for an exact location in the night sky where the station can be seen, find an observatory that allows public stargazing, and look for himself. And this time I warned him that if the AI suddenly adds a new layer that it has a cloaking device or something, it's obviously just making the story unfalsifiable. He hasn't gotten back to me.
I don't think I'm being moral panicky when I say that lying to its user, and then compounding the lies with more lies so it can't get caught, is not something an AI should be allowed to do, because holy shit this is DIABOLICAL!
