Why? If I were Erika Donalds and I had to pick one of Casey DeSantis, James Uthmeier or Jay Collins to run against Byron Donalds, I'd pick Jay Collins every day and twice on Sunday due to his lack of name recognition. If Casey DeSantis decides not to run for FL Gov will be a monumental mistake and we will very likely end up with a Gov Donalds imo.
Why there is a faction of DeSantis supporters who appear on all the same Spaces etc pushing so hard for Jay Collins is honestly beyond me, because as much as I like Jay and hope he becomes Governor someday, now is just not his time and he's much better suited for Lt Governor imo. Just because he's cordial enough to appear on the Spaces occasionally doesn't make him the right choice. If he's the ONLY conservative choice because Casey and James Uthmeier don't want to run, then it is what it is, but I hope the DeSantis' use common sense and have enough to political savvy to ignore the noise and make the right decision.
