Switching costs are (un)real đź’€
There are X types of switching costs:
(1) Organizational tax
Your AI agent will have a champion who convinces their organization to pay. It will take 1-2 years for the full organization to adopt your product - even if a new / alternative emerges in the meantime - the lethargy & innate bureaucracy will prevent a switch.
Imagine how hard it would be for the same champion to land up another month later trumpeting another tool - she simply wouldn’t - in the Enterprise, sticking the course is always better for ones career than course correction.
(2) “Memory is the moat”
This has become increasingly apparent - just like SORs (Systems of Record) are sticky - AI agents are also becoming sticky.
Once users are trained & context accumulation has taken place, it is extremely hard to port over to another provider.
In short, the good old SaaS advantage of lock-in will remain.
