Ellen DeGeneres, a popular American comedian and actress, has confirmed that her decision to move to the UK was influenced by Donald Trump’s election, saying, “Everything here is just better.”
Speaking at Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre on Sunday, her first public appearance since leaving the U.S., she told broadcaster Richard Bacon that she and her wife, Portia de Rossi, arrived in the UK just before the election. When they received emotional messages from friends, they realised Trump had won and decided to stay. In 2024, following the end of her talk show and a farewell comedy tour across the U.S., the couple relocated to the Cotswolds permanently.
