ESPN cough (coughing) $XXX BILLION/Yr for the NBA for XX games or $XXXX MILLION per game. In return the NBA’s average viewership is 1.3M per game, about $XX per person per game.
WNBA last year averaged 1M viewers over XX games for $200M/Yr or $6.25M/game. Average viewership was 1.2M or just $X person per game.
So ESPN is getting the X times the viewership per dollar spent for X WNBA games as it gets for X NBA game.
So what gives? It’s the demographics of who the X are vs the 1, the ad revenue must be massively higher for the NBA to be worth $32M per game. The advertisers clearly aren’t investing in WNBA fan’s shopping habits.
By comparison the NFL averages 17M viewers/game. Amazon paid X Billion for XX games and averaged 13M viewers, that’s $62.5M / game or $4.8M/viewer. I feel so appreciated!
