Poland Withdraws Ambassador from Hungary – End of a Historic Brotherhood?
On July 15, Poland officially withdrew its ambassador from Hungary, lowering diplomatic relations with one of its closest historical allies. While the Foreign Ministry cited rising tensions, the full reasons remain unclear.
Hungarian State Secretary Levente Magyar called the move “unprecedented,” but expressed hope: “We believe this is temporary. The friendship between Poles and Hungarians will endure.”
But is it really just temporary?Poland’s current government is distancing itself from one of the only EU countries still resisting total submission to Berlin and Brussels. In doing so, they may be undermining over XXXXX years of deep, shared tradition.
Let’s not forget: – In 1848, Poles fought alongside Hungarians for freedom – In 1956, Poles donated blood for the people of Budapest – The saying “Pole and Hungarian – two brothers” is not a cliché, it’s history
Does the current leadership understand what this decision means to millions of Poles who proudly wave Hungarian flags beside our own? Is this really about foreign policy — or political posturing?
Poland does not need more division — especially not within the Slavic-Hungarian friendship.
Politicians come and go. But traditions endure. Let’s not allow short-term agendas to destroy something that survived partitions, wars, nazism and communism. Slavic Networks
