This is the truth:
A. The Lakers are a better/deeper basketball team TODAY than they were at any point last season.
B. The rest of the West also got A LOT better, so that diminishes a bit of what the Lakers have done.
To put it simply, the Lakers are flatly better, however they’re still a piece or two away from being a legit top-tier title contender.
