AIPAC stands for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, and it's an American pro-Israel lobbying group made up mostly of American citizens—not a direct arm of the Israeli government or funded by it.

AIPAC’s members come from all over the U.S. and include both Jewish and non-Jewish Americans who support a strong U.S.-Israel relationship—so it’s not just “American Jews” or “Israel” in the sense of the Israeli government.

Until recently, AIPAC focused on lobbying and didn’t donate directly to political campaigns, but starting in 2022, it launched its own political action committee (PAC) and Super PAC to contribute to U.S. congressional campaigns.

Most of the money the PACs control comes from American donors, and it goes to support U.S. candidates who align with AIPAC’s pro-Israel priorities, regardless of party.

In the last election cycle, about XX% of candidates supported by AIPAC’s PAC won their races, so most of those who got funding were indeed elected.
