The left-wing parties in Germany's ruling coalition are currently demanding that two far-left justices be allowed onto Germany's constitutional court. These justices have both advocated for banning the AFD, Germany's second-largest party, on the grounds that it is a "threat to democracy" for opposing immigration.
According to conservative German political blogger Eugyppius, this is the opening of a likely "judicial putsch to seize control of the German government" — with the AFD banned, the left wing parties would instantly have a majority, and with the opposition effectively criminalized, they would never lose it.
The US should be monitoring this very closely.
