Truly is fortunate that one Elon Musk company is public. His prescience stems from solid first principles, engineering chops and his vast experience running companies.
Baidu’s Apollo is one of the more widely deployed multi-sensor based RoboTaxis. Robin Li is talking with an in depth knowledge of what the scaling challenges will be for multi sensor systems (and how difficult the edge cases are to solve for).
If people won’t listen to Elon Musk, maybe they will listen to Robin Li?
Baidu’s newest cars are in line with the cost of the Model Y—but the scaling costs will exceed Tesla’s. And the scaling time will vastly exceed Tesla (without a pivot). And Robin Li indicated concern about how inexpensively Tesla can manufacturer the upcoming CyberCab & the CyberCab’s low operating cost per mile as a RoboTaxi.
