Waymo has done Tesla a big service laying regulatory framework. Not sure we need Lucid, their are plenty of car manufacturers. There is a room for a Secondary operator in niche markets or large cities. And at some point antitrust may be a real problem. (But the IPhone still has massive market share).
I agree there can and likely will be a distant second place. (I usually describe it as Winner takes most—not all). Uber has XX% of the SF market right now with similar economics to Lyft. Tesla could do even better—as RoboTaxi will have dramatically cheaper costs then competitors and could undercut fares, even getting to equivalent to bus and train fares. That would be massive disruption and increase the TAM of the rideshare market. Some may forgo car ownership altogether. Even those that still have cars will RoboTaxi places when going out for the night or where parking is an issue. And maybe the family has one car, not two or more.
