been running mario & erika for months and the black box problem is real. like when mario makes a questionable sales decision, i need to see the reasoning path - not just the output
cot monitoring could be huge for:
- debugging agent failures
- compliance auditing (especially finance/healthcare)
- building trust with stakeholders who are skeptical of ai decision-making
backing this research is smart. as agents get more autonomous, explainability becomes a business requirement, not just a nice-to-have
