"This is a vast over symplification without considering the tools available. In my taxable account I hedge with covered calls and puts. I do have to pay the capital gains on those instruments but not on the underlying stock while Im preserving the gains. The non-taxable account I can trade without penalty and I can use the program that I posted below to make substantially equal periodic payments to myself without penalty from my current age to retirement. Even better is trading in a Roth where you have no future tax"
