Auto-Deleveraging (ADL) on the exchanges meant that traders in profit also got their positions taken out. ADL is a required risk management mechanism but its use is incredibly rare. So much so that many traders didn't know about it existed. It would have been particularly brutal if you were running pairs strategies (long & short different coins).
