I got a call from a rescue who took in pups that were abandoned but had nowhere to put them. I am not set up well for babies so I got on the phone. I have a few fosters that specialize in them. "There was no list posted today. Sat and waited to see and found they had one. No name female. No notes on behavior or condition. The date of intake and the name of animal control that took her in. I just got off the phone with the animal control officer a different one than I know. She was on a chain as long as he could remember legally. Just because something is legal doesn't mean it's anything close to just. They "got tired of feeding" her and stated it as a reason to dump her here. "Just met with the vet. She has severe heartworm. She collapsed on the way into his workshop and was panting heavily. She's stable now and resting. I just talked to two other rescues here and we are going to cover her expenses at a specialist near us here. She isn't healthy enough to be with other pups so taking her home isn't an option right now. She will spend the night here and tomorrow he will take her for better testing. She needs quiet and rest. Depending on the more in-depth evaluation that will be done tomorrow she will begin treatment immediately. No doubt there is damage to the heart"

Thankful to have capable folks running the ranch and Dolly in good hands. Waiting for the test results but all indications her heart is failing due to the advanced heartworm. "Flying from a nearby airport and avoiding the 3-hour drive to MSP today. Brother's business partner is also a for hire pilot and is going to Charolette with one client today. "Got a call about a dog running earlier. Right down the middle of the highway. When I got there a couple guys had chased her off the road and I was able to trick her with some bacon. She then surrendered willingly and was happy to take a ride. At the vet now waiting to go in and get scanned for a chip. Hoping she has people looking for her if not she will be coming here. Even has roof storage ability and a cargo net if needed. Just test pulled it and its smooth n stable at [--] MPH. Not pretty but pretty functional and under $400 to do it. Works for my needs.
