"Heres what I think about the AI is deflationary debate: AI isnt deflationary in the same way a monetary shock is. Its structural deflation driven by rising productivity not falling demand. When output per worker explodes and marginal costs collapse prices naturally trend lower. Thats healthy deflation. However governments and central banks dont tolerate sustained price declines. They respond to productivity deflation with monetary inflation to keep nominal GDP & debt ratios stable. So yes AI will cause long-run productivity deflation. The response will be a higher nominal money supply."
