"Engie's business lines - renewables batteries flexible generation (aka natural gas) pipelines and renewable gas (small but with big plans to grow) are direct nuclear energy competitors. Allowing someone else to operate their existing plants would reduce Engie revenues"

"We aren't talking about small numbers. Engie's 2024 revenues were XX B. Company leaders have a fiduciary responsibility to protect and grow those numbers. Nuclear energy threatens the company and must be opposed - from their point of view"

"Pakistan has several good reasons to be interested in small modular reactors from Western nations. That is the thrust of an opinion piece by Yousuf Nazar a former head of Citigroups emerging markets investments. The Oct XX piece titled "Trump ties could power a nuclear pivot" can be found on Dawn dot com Nazar makes several good arguments and provides a few useful suggestions but this one might be a poison pill: "A trilateral model involving American technology Chinese construction expertise and Pakistani oversight could share risk while balancing strategic interests." IMO both commercial and"

"On Oct XX another nuclear plant vendor Terra Innovatum Global N. V. started being publicly traded on the Nasdaq Global market. The ticker is $NKLR. The new entity is the result of a SPAC merger with GSR III Acquisition Corp (GSRT). The company's product is described as a X MWe micro reactor that can operate on low enriched #uranium fuel"

"It's not hard to read between the lines here: "'Nuclear is not part of Engies strategy' said Antoine Assice director of Tihange who will retire next year." "More important executives said Engies strategy is now to build out renewables gas generation and batteries." "Engie is stubbornly pursuing its exit from nuclear electricity generation. But it isn't offering to sell its plants. Instead it plans to destroy them so that no one else can operate them. Looking at their 2024 revenue breakdown I can understand their motivation"

"Im not sure how many NRC critics understand that NEPA slowdowns often had more schedule and cost impact than nuclear safety reviews. Calvert Cliffs decision was huge brake on 1st Atomic Energy Era"

"Duke Energy and TECO both raised their electricity rates substantially this year. The increases were approved by the Public Service Commission in a rate case that was completed in February 2025. For Duke Energy Florida (DEF) the increase amounts to about XXX cents per kilowatt hour. For TECO it's about X cents/kwh. For Duke the new rate is XX% higher than the old rate. Those price increases weren't driven by the cost of supplying new demand. They were temporary assessments to cover the costs of restoring and hardening the power system after the impacts of Hurricanes Idalia Debby Helene and"

"I've tried to understand but I am still baffled by the UK's "justification" process for a technology. Apparently Rolls-Royce has to file a detailed docket to Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to "justify" their SMR. Seems a bit late or unnecessary"

"Of course no company will openly state that they are destroying fully depreciated capital equipment to increase the value of newer capital equipment. For nuclear plant operators who want to exit the industry antinuclear campaigners provide a convenient scapegoat"

"A strong but mostly silent set of financial interests are aligned with the environmental groups that oppose Indian Point restart. As we all know IPs output was replaced by burning natural gas. The entities that sell transport and burn that gas have a natural desire to protect their revenues and profits. In many cases they have a legal fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders/investors. It shouldnt surprise anyone to find evidence of donations from those financially motivated entities on the donor list of the environmental a more accurate label is antinuclear groups"
