"EPF and NPS (employer-linked) auto-deduct every month forcing you to save first and spend whats left. Its built on trust that the government will return your money when you need it. I personally invest in both and that too a good amount per month. However I feel that trusts fading fast - with several stories of claim rejections random rule changes endless processes forced annuity lock-ins etc"

"Looks like HSBC underestimated how much traffic this new Rewards portal + Atlas Discontinuation + TravelOne buzz would bring Ever since they revamped the HSBC Rewards portal and started actively marketing their cards demand has increased but their backend support clearly hasnt kept pace. Im an existing HSBC Visa Platinum holder and tried applying for the TravelOne Card online. Midway through the process (step 3) I got a message saying: Seems like youre an existing customer our support team will contact you in X days. No call for X days until I contacted their support to request a callback."

"There was a time when lounge access actually felt premium. Now even lounges have their own hierarchies. Most seasoned travellers dont prefer the general lounges anymore. Theyre crowded noisy and have lost that old charm with deteriorating quality. People now aim for the premium lounges such as the Amex Centurion Air India Biz Class or other priority-access lounges basically the lounges above the lounge. And then there are some who skip lounges altogether and prefer sitting at those overpriced airport cafs or bars instead which some might see as the real flex Which category are you in when you"

"Over a week since I'm trying to upgrade my HSBC Visa Platinum to TravelOne. After 4+ calls to customer care the pattern is this - Customer care says We cant process it were not the sales team. Then they promise a priority callback that never actually happens. Tried applying online too it detects Im an existing customer and stops midway with Well call you. That call never comes either. Honestly how difficult can it be for @HSBC_IN to issue a credit card to someone who already has one with their bank with all KYC and details verified Anyone else stuck in the same loop πŸ’³"

"A key aspect of travel is safety and theres something Ive observed thats worth sharing. When you take a cab abroad and sit in the back seat the car beeps if you dont wear your seatbelt. In India the same cars from global brands like Toyota Honda or Kia stay silent. No alerts or beeps. There is already a rule with a fine of 1000 for not wearing a seat belt and yet it isn't enforced. Almost no one wears a seatbelt in the back in India thinking its unnecessary. But weve already seen how deadly that assumption can be. Cyrus Mistry the former chairman of Tata Sons reportedly wasnt wearing one when"

"Crossed 1L lifetime Edge Miles recently with my Axis Atlas Card about XXX years since I got it (April 2024). ✈ Easily one of the best value-for-money cards Ive picked up. Already maxed out 2025s Group A capping on Jan X this year πŸ˜… and sitting on enough miles to hit the 2026 cap the moment it resets. Might need to bring in another card for Accor transfers looking seriously at the HSBC TravelOne now πŸ‘€"

"Just tested @CRED_club's new credit card milestone tracking feature and heres what I noticed πŸ‘‡ Its showing a spend-waiver milestone for my Swiggy HDFC Card which I actually hold as LTF. So clearly they dont have that context. Then on my Axis Atlas the spends shown on CRED differ by over 1L compared to what the Axis app shows. Same with EPM Ive spent far more than what CRED is tracking. There are also untagged spends which basically means CRED is tagging each transaction applying its own logic for exclusions and ignoring what it cant classify. 🚨This confirms what I initially thought. The"

"Thanks @EvryPaisaMatter Ji for doing this PoC and recording the user experience of redeeming HPCL vouchers at petrol pumps. πŸ™Œ Heres how I see it - Pros ➑18% RP back via EPM on iShop for fuel. Huge win no card comes close to this level of return on fuel spends. ➑Helps increase total spends on EPM which can support milestone benefits and annual fee waivers. Cons ➑The GV code has to be manually entered by the petrol pump staff so youll likely need to park and step out of your car and wait a bit. Slower process overall ➑Youll have to plan refuels in multiples of XXX to fully use the vouchers"

"One thing every credit card geek should remember is that not every swipe is worth it. πŸ’³ Once you get deep into the rewards game its easy to develop this mindset of everything must go on a credit card. Its great for rewards but sometimes the cheapest options dont even accept cards. Example - Wedding shopping from Chandni Chowk in Delhi will still be far cheaper than buying from a showroom/e-commerce even after factoring in 10-15% reward value from your card. Same logic for daily cab rides. If your daily XX Uber Auto ride now costs XXX because you switched to a cab just to swipe your card"

"My quick hack to know if a souvenir shop is overpriced while travelling - Check the price of fridge magnets or keychains first which are usually displayed outside the shop. πŸ§²πŸ”‘ I did this in Paris. If the Eiffel Tower keychain costs more than X the rest of the shops prices will be sky-high too. No need to even step in after that"
