"@DozTk421 @gummibear737 @TuckerCarlson Perhaps that is where our perspectives diverge. I think it is credible that Tucker believes the U.S. doesn't need to be involved in the affairs of every region of the world. Iran has a regional foil in Saudi Arabia. Russia has one with Europe" @mblair on X 2025-07-21 02:04:04 UTC 2714 followers, XX engagements
"@DozTk421 @gummibear737 @TuckerCarlson Personally I believe that Russia wants several oblasts firmly in their control for geostrategic reasons and isn't likely to stop until then. But that is ultimately a regional conflict that matters little to the U.S. (As our conquest of Iraq mattered little to Russia)" @mblair on X 2025-07-21 02:06:33 UTC 2714 followers, XX engagements
"@Gillybeans @WWhitney78 @PeteDominick Heh I asked ChatGPT and it said Mack was one that is rarely used but when I dug further it had picked it up from Mark McGwire the baseball player. And of course that is from "Mc". It also suggested I could try making one and suggested Mars. Thinking about that one :-)" @mblair on X 2025-07-19 19:11:37 UTC 2711 followers, XX engagements

"@DozTk421 @gummibear737 @TuckerCarlson Nationalism tracks with much of the Trump base. And forging a stable peace with Russia and Iran is a nationalist anti-establishment position. That camp generally doesn't see either nation as necessarily a threat to the United States. I don't either tbh" @mblair on X 2025-07-21 01:54:18 UTC 2715 followers, XX engagements
"I think I do. Colbert isn't doing a stand up show. He's the host of a late night talk show on broadcast TV. Traditionally the hosts sought to keep political humor from becoming mean-spirited so that their shows would appeal to the broad audience of Americans. Not always easy to do as like Colbert the hosts had personal opinions. This doesn't mean "equal time". Trump has dominated the news cycle for a decade. Most jokes will be about him. But the tone and tenor matter. It us a matter of the energy the comedian creates in the room / on the screen. To illustrate this difference let me use SNL" @mblair on X 2025-07-19 08:23:38 UTC 2712 followers, XX engagements
"@Yossi78883689 @piersmorgan Do you think Israel would give up so easily to Gaza if the roles were reversed" @mblair on X 2025-07-20 18:54:50 UTC 2715 followers, XXX engagements
"Hate is a poison and even if I disliked every single word or action of his I would not do so. There are people that have done incredibly cruel things to children. There are people like the killer of Polly Klass a crime committed in my region that I still feel hate for. No politician including Trump is in that league. Pete let me ask you a question. Assuming that Colbert shares your hate for Trump and it seeps into his act why would the half of the country that supports Trump feel welcome Why wouldnt the act come off as mean-spirited How can say James Austin Johnson -- who does the Trump" @mblair on X 2025-07-19 04:19:52 UTC 2713 followers, 5196 engagements
"@BrianRoemmele @Tesla @elonmusk It is starting to feel like we rely on @elonmusk to do everything that should be done. This is exactly the architectural style we need for our spirits to lift off and take us towards the future. That era should be the Greece to our Rome" @mblair on X 2025-07-22 00:53:38 UTC 2714 followers, 1851 engagements
"THE NAME 'ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE' WAS A MISTAKE A better term would be DI: Digital Intelligence. "Artificial" implies fakes and trickery. Stagecraft. This biases public perception and treats human intelligence as the gold standard. It isn't. AI will be something alien. And we'll be better off if we learn to see it through that lens" @mblair on X 2025-07-18 21:56:46 UTC 2715 followers, XXX engagements
"@Finn__McCook @CHAS12312 @Abomination1349 @PeteDominick The XX% support Trump has right now is highly relevant when you have a national broadcast late night show that should appeal to all" @mblair on X 2025-07-19 16:28:03 UTC 2711 followers, XX engagements
"@walterkirn I'd love to see a breakdowns that shows what percentage of his TV audience lives in New York City. Has to be a good chunk" @mblair on X 2025-07-22 00:45:52 UTC 2714 followers, XXX engagements
"In the middle of it. Have you heard Cooper's podcast series on it Was good. I need to relisten. Also I saw Eric Weinstein on Piers and he made an excellent point about how we can't see intel asociations directly how you always need to look for the penumbra that surrounds it. Worth watching just that segment (skip O'Reilly)" @mblair on X 2025-07-19 05:49:08 UTC 2713 followers, XX engagements
"I encourage you go go back and look at Johnny Carson and Jay Leno monologues. Both of them worked through highly-polarized times in the nation and both made hay at the expense of politicians. But there was a sense of respect too and that the humor was all in fun. Late night hosts speak to the entire nation and so it is important not to create a sense that it is an excusive gathering of one political tribe or the other. Remarkably Colbert did a pretty good job of this on The Colbert Report -- even when lampooning a right wing host was the central gimmick. An incredible tightrope act in my" @mblair on X 2025-07-19 01:42:02 UTC 2714 followers, 12.9K engagements

"@DozTk421 @gummibear737 @TuckerCarlson I doubt China needs to make any moves on Taiwan. At the rate that we are falling apart in a couple decades Taiwan will likely return willingly. If we continue to overextend at the expense of our internal health we are primed for a sudden collapse of capability" @mblair on X 2025-07-21 02:21:43 UTC 2714 followers, XX engagements

"Trump is mean-spirited too but that is a seperate issue. The role of a broadcast TV late night show is to keep America laughing together. There are plenty of other places in media to "rebuke" politicians. Also creating a hostile environment that repels and alienates half the audience so that one can rebuke the President to a crowd that already agree ls with you is fairly pointless. The illusion of advocacy. Does nothing and squanders the inherent opportunity in the nature venue to have a positive social impact" @mblair on X 2025-07-19 21:17:21 UTC 2711 followers, XX engagements
"@Dan_a_rama Structured chaos is a useful release valve. Here in the U.S. we'd probably need something more extreme. Hopefully not as extreme as The Purge :-)" @mblair on X 2025-07-21 17:08:59 UTC 2713 followers, XX engagements
"@derry_lamb @blyth_coral @PeteDominick Probably the jokes about Kate Middleton. I don't think he was aware of her cancer diagnosis and he did apologize to her for that. I give him a pass on that one. It was unfortunate timing" @mblair on X 2025-07-19 01:45:06 UTC 2715 followers, XXX engagements

"@standupmonkey @PeteDominick You've misunderstood me. If Colbert was on MSNBC or some niche cable show it would be absolutely fine. There is a cultural responsibility that comes along with broadcast network TV programming embodied in traditions that lasted from the advent of the format up until his show" @mblair on X 2025-07-19 23:38:43 UTC 2713 followers, XX engagements
