"I run a long/short portfolio so I am constantly hedged. I just adjust how long and how short I am based on how much risk there is The fed lowers rates to stimulate the economy. Inflation is their other mandate so they do not want to lower rates too much and have higher inflation. They do not just cut rates because they were elevated previously. They would keep them the same if the economy didn't need help. That's why the cutting cycles begin. The fact that they are cutting rates when inflation is above target says a lot actually"
