"UPS always delivers to the front of my house. FedEx sometimes drives down the alley. The back of the houses are not marked so they will occasionally just randomly pick a neighbor's house and leave something there instead. Apparently FedEx sometimes hires drivers who are not familiar with the concept of an alley vs. the street a house faces"

"Might work but there are a lot of really sharp people in India (and numerous other countries). Far more than will be transferred to headquarters. It sounds to me like JPM is seeding and subsidizing their own future competition. Which is possibly great for the industry overall but perhaps not smart for a current major incumbent (like JPM)"

"That is absolutely true. At the same time it seems like the new addition doesn't really fit in size-wise with the rest of the building. At the risk of turning it into a multi-billion dollar project instead maybe they could have put the whole thing underground under the front lawn like how convention centers often have a cavernous underground event space"

"@BoringBiz_ I was going to ask what do then have in mind for the supply of future senior investment bankers Does JP Morgan want to be replaced by an Indian investment bank Then I remembered that thinking ahead more than a few quarters is probably a fireable offense"

"@WexCapital @BoringBiz_ As I understand their value comes substantially from sitting in a branded gatekeeping position more so than knowledge of capital markets"

"I realize the vibe in this thread is to dump on the guy but I would love to see another round of podcast appearances digging into the challenges that can come after what a lot of entrepreneurs think of as having reached the pinnacle. Also he might have some quite good insights on things to have done differently on the way up to avoid landing in this situation"

"The valuation things are at least pretty significantly outside his control as they reflect a mix of the performance of the company expectations for the industries it operates in and broader market sentiment. But the operational milestones look exceedingly difficult to achieve. No amount of frothy market sentiment will magically make for example XX billion of EBITDA appear ()"

"I do not understand the point of this. There are already five EV brands with amply good enough motors. The motor power density is nowhere near the limiting factor on EV profitability or adoption. If they can make an adequate motor cheaper that would be a much more valuable innovation though still not the limiting factor"

"Really interested to see if any makers actually go with hub motors at scale. Historically this has been an idea that has a lot of appeal but does not make it to production for various reasons: Moves fragile parts to a vulnerable and violent place. Need flexible electrical conductors out to the wheel which also puts these in a vulnerable place. Need to be totally air cooled or to have flexible coolant lines out to the wheels. Unsprung mass is undesirable for handling and ride though one could hope for a sufficiently advanced motor (plus electrical conductors and cooling) to be as little"

"@ChaimKatz7 @PhilWMagness Possibly none at all. Politics brings out an awful tendency in people to stretch their understanding of history to make their heroes from the past somehow match the policy preferences of their heroes of the present"

"@GuntherEagleman I do not care about the political blather around this bunny guy. What I want to know is what happened to the time-honored tradition of putting somebody out there who will strum just the right amount of nostalgia for the age cohort most able to afford to go to the Super Bowl"

"The obvious answer forever has been an auction. Everybody throws in their bid. Top N bids get it at the Nth highest price. The main obstacles remain: The venue/etc doesn't want to take the heat in public for how high these prices would end up. The venue/etc doesn't want the N richest fans they want a mix of the richest fans and the most enthusiastic fans"

"@Mike_the_Elder @TechOperator There are many millions of people in the US who need a car to make their life+job work and are currently enduring a very challenging used car market. These folks will be thrilled if used cars plummet in price and likely won't complain about having to actually drive them"

"@CBC321 @ShannonJean I'm going to sell a car on one of the auction sites soon. My concern is whether there might be a gap between "the market spoke" and "the auction site doesn't have a big enough buyer audience for this specific kind of car to ensure getting the market price.""

"There's just too broad of a range of opinions among Americans on how much noise (at what time of day) is suitable to spread between your residence and adjacent ones. You could have an equilibrium where everybody is quiet or an equilibrium where everyone is loud and either of those could work OK I suspect there are countries that are good examples of each"
