"Yes but you're mixing two different things. Yes to get a credit card in Europe you must provide ID to the bank. That's banking KYC. The bank knows who the cardholder is. But X doesn't access that information. X only knows that a valid card has paid. X doesn't know if the cardholder is the same person running the account. I can open an account called "Pope Francis" pay with my own credit card (fully KYC verified by my bank) and get the blue checkmark. X never asks me to prove I'm Pope Francis. It only asks for the payment to go through. Banking KYC protects the bank from fraud. It doesn't"
