Simply creating more prison space also requires more prison officers. Today a tv personality who slashed a womans face chest and stomach because she rejected his advances and gets a suspended sentence. Lack of prison spaces and delays in case coming to court part of the justification for that sentence being suspended. We do not know enough regarding the Stockport incident to even know if stronger sentences would have had any deterrent effect"
