"I wasn't aware that the BTC narrative now is that BCH is a shitcoin because it did an "airdrop scam". I'm an OG Bitcoiner from 2012. Back then everybody knew that you voted with your hash power. If you disagreed you can fork off. This was common knowledge. I remember Andreas Anonopolous giving talks about this topic. Now the narrative is that because BCH hard-forked off it's a scam. It should have done the polite thing and started a new chain from block X. Ok. but at the time we wanted to win. We didn't want BTC to have the nonsense hackish garbage that is SegWit or the lack of scalability"

I would say the larger damage wasn't even SegWit as bad as it was but the monkeying with the economic properties of Bitcoin by making blockchain space a premium by betting on unproven and as yet broken L2's and by killing it as a viable replacement for fiat. the network effect of adoption was nuked and the threat to fiat neutralized. We ended up calling our coin Bitcoin Cash. It was a ragtag band of rebels.
