"How about they actually invest a few bucks in their military Their Navy has almost no ships left (which is ironic for an island nation) they have no Air Force to speak of and their Army is only good for light peacekeeping missions. Do they expect the US to defend them from China or are they going to kick in some money for their own defense"

They are buying X MH-60R helicopters to replace EIGHT Seasprites. The numbers are going down not up and that's the point. The Seasprites had to be replaced because they were old and outdated. This is hardly something to brag about when your numbers keep going down especially when it comes to ships"

Defense is not a joke in any part of the world and if your enemy sees you as weak they will take advantage of that situation. But if New Zealand makes an even modest attempt to build up its armed forces ESPECIALLY its Navy it will go a long way in proving to the US and other countries in the area that New Zealand is serious about defense"

"It seemed to me that Kamala Harris was what Hubert Humphrey was in 1968 a flawed liberal who couldn't overwhelm Nixon who was coming back with a vengeance after his loss to Kennedy in 1960. So in 2028 will Harris be followed by a far-left candidate like George McGovern in 1972 or the con man like Obama in 2008 My guess is that the party is swung so far left into socialism it will probably nominate another George McGovern and we all saw how "well" that turned out"
