However isn't there a legality issue with melting the coin in the US I believe in most countries the notes and coins are property of the government (or central bank) and it is illegal to destroy them or modify then in any way. @grok can you comment on this point too"

However point X should stop uneducated young people from going into point X as meme coins are engineered to rob uneducated people of what little cash they have in favor of the meme issuers market makers exchanges and other insiders.
