"you would have had a strong cs foundation had you not spent your entire grad grinding dsa and web dev but had focused on your cs curriculum instead. gotta go. bye"

"Py XXXX is more performant than Py 3.12+ on AWS Lambda And if you go by the benchmarks then you should never run Node.js :) But of course that considers only performance numbers and not familiarity. By the way this comes from a great article by Chris where he benchmarked AWS serverless runtimes on light CPU-intensive memory-intensive and I/O-heavy workloads and even measured cold starts. Some pretty interesting numbers. Give it a read"

"Cloudflare had another outage lasting XX mins on 5th Dec and this happened while they were patching their servers for a React vulnerability. Here's what exactly happened. - They were increasing how much of a request body their firewall could inspect from 128KB to 1MB. - While rolling this out an internal testing tool started breaking. Since it wasn't needed for live traffic they decided to just turn it off for now. - Here's where things went wrong: they turned off the tool using a global config system that pushes changes instantly to the entire network with no gradual rollout. - This"

"Today I realised I have a "fear of finding out" :) I delay opening messages from my manager tech leads and even some friends until the very last moment when I have literally read every other message and am now left with no choice. Literally scared"

"why does llm-generated code have so many emojis what type of code was it trained on save yourself some tokens and just give me simple polished sophisticated and more importantly functional code. 1✅👁📝🔔 these are the emojis it had in the output when I asked it to write a simple hello-world application in c to talk to redis"

"wrote an essay on terrain generation the math behind it with some code to generate it. The algorithm is useful in games like Counter-Strike Age of Empires etc to programmatically generate terrains. Interestingly all it takes is a bunch of cosine functions layered on top of each other. Give it a read - it's pretty interesting. By the way I originally wrote this in 2020 but I thought I'd share it again since it's been more than five years :)"

"Wrote an essay on what Q K and V matrices are and the roles they play in LLMs. I dug deeper into the nuances and put together this distilled yet detailed version. This essay also supplements my write-up on "How LLM Inference Works." I'm no expert but if you're looking for a starting point with LLMs this would help. Give it a read"

"Bubblesort is famously or infamously the "never use this" algorithm. Donald Knuth even said it has "nothing to recommend it except a catchy name." But there is actually a niche where it does well - game development (source linked). What makes bubblesort interesting - each step is fast and easily suspendable and every swap leaves the array more ordered than before. Other sorts can temporarily move values away from their final positions. This matters when we render objects in a game. We want to render objects closest to the camera first (so we can skip rendering hidden objects) but we also"
