"Sometimes selling the player is the right call for their development. Loans are there but clubs are under much less pressure to invest in a player if theyre just going to leave in 6-12 months time. If clubs put down a fee and pay their wages I think theyre more inclined to make things work. United do a good job of developing players in their academy programme. They give them all the tools to maximise their potential. Doing it in Uniteds first team is just 10x harder for obvious reasons. Replicating the same progress might not be possible if they were to stay"
