"Over here doing crazy things in the name of science. "What if. ok hear me out. what if I apply subdiv to booleans apply those booleans to a base mesh post-subdiv and then use bevel shader on THAT" 🤓 It. I mean it's slow AF buuut it works 😂"

"Continuing with resharing the low to low baking + bevel shader post series I show how Im using @marmosetco Toolbag to texture while incorporating vector layers for fine detail that would traditionally be baked from a high poly. 1/10"

"It's really a question about size/scale and whether or not the profile of the bevel matters. There's quite a few areas that I could reduce to hard edges here. Like for the grey part in the middle the left side is beveled while the right side is sharp. Hard to tell apart"

"And the inside. This was a model I made like X years ago but still had the boolean operands for. I guess it works in a pinch"

"@MartinGrassoArt Haha yep. Plasticity and bevel shader are a perfect pair 😁"

"Here's the cutter I used for the top and the bevel shaded result. I'm endlessly amused by this"

"@MelvinDanes1 @marmosetco I remember first using the boolean - zbrush back in 2011 and thinking it felt like cheating. The bevel shader is on another level entirely because you get the same effect but non-destructively and soooooo much faster"

"@marmosetco Showing you don't need any particular workflow to use the bevel shader. Have sharp edges will bevel. Also works with floaters scans booleans low poly mid poly normal subdiv CAD models and all of the above in the same model even"

"@marmosetco Then moving onto the knurling This is the really fun part. I used to hate modeling knurling and static alphas were too limiting. Here I used a simple line with a bevel and tapered ends and set the radial count to control size. Its both fun AND you have so much control. 5/10"

"I don't know who needs to hear this but if you're sacrificing UV shell padding in favor of texel density you're doing it wrong. Texel density is important sure. But don't chase a higher space utilization by reducing the 32px padding on a 4k map. That padding IS utilization"

"Resharing how Im using the new Low to Low baking mode and bevel shader in @marmosetco Toolbag X 😁 The bevel shader does more than just smooth out edges it also blends surfaces between objects so you can create complex forms by using simple shapes and primitives. 1/7"

"Use only one art to convince people to follow you I choose you possessed deforming ngonalloon with no smoothing errors 😉"

""Model" is loosely defined here but. technically yes. It even has depth"

"Ok posting something I made X years ago that I give you permission to judge harshly 😂 Was looking at the UVs for my oil filter model on my portfolio and. my god wtf was I smoking when I made this layout Go right to jail younger me"

"@Lubiole It's not it just really depends on the island and the model and you kind of need to evaluate per UV island. Like if you have a circle strip where both the inner and outer diameters are similar you should probably straighten that. More info here:"

"@marmosetco Dont want to worry about cleaning up booleans No problem Just mash objects together without joining them. The bevel shader material does all the work for you. 2/7"

"@Urumurasaki I mean mostly that but also just AI in general seeing as the current RAM and storage crisis isn't limited to genAI. We're also facing an incoming bubble that when it pops is going to cause a lot of hurt to a lot of people"

"@marmosetco Starting with the grip my goal is to add some knurling and panel lines to separate it into sections. So lets draw a simple panel line for this with the symmetry enabled and set up in a radial array. 4/10"
